Answers in Genesis
Answers in Genesis is an apologetics (i.e., Christianity-defending) ministry, dedicated to enabling Christians to defend their faith, and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ effectively. We focus particularly on providing answers to questions surrounding the book of Genesis, as it is the most-attacked book of the Bible. We also desire to train others to develop a biblical worldview, and seek to expose the bankruptcy of evolutionary ideas, and its bedfellow, a “millions of years old” earth (and even older universe).
AWANA Clubs International
What is Awana? Awana is an international, Bible-centered children's ministry and youth ministry providing local churches with weekly clubs, programs and training. Our goal is to equip churches and parents worldwide to raise spiritual champions who know, love and serve Christ using integrated programs for ages 2 to 18, resources for Bible-based parenting and discipleship, child and family evangelism and specialized volunteer training. (Learn about the prayer, vision, mission and values of Awana.) The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. Awana began in 1950 as a youth program at the North Side Gospel Center in Chicago, Illinois. Lance Latham, the church pastor, worked with Art Rorheim to develop a program that would appeal to young people, reach them with the gospel and train them in the Lord’s work. Other churches heard about the success of the Awana program and asked if they could use it. By 1960, Awana had registered 900 churches to start Awana. Today, nearly 12,000 U.S. churches run Awana with programs in all 50 states. Awana can also be found in over 4,300 churches in 109 other countries and six continents. Jack Eggar is our President/CEO. Art Rorheim serves as our Co-Founder. Missionaries and ministry teams will assist you in establishing Awana as a vital part of your local church's outreach, discipleship and volunteer training. Find your area missionary and contact him today, or learn more about what we believe as a Bible-teaching ministry. The AWANA missionary for the U.P. is Mark Britton.
AWANA--U.P. & Northern L.P.
Mark and Diane Britton's call to ministry Diane and I have been convinced of God’s purpose for our lives in relationship to full time ministry work since the beginning or our ministry opportunities in 1981. Through the years God has placed a burden on our hearts concerning American missions through exposure to Church Missionaries coming home on furlough and observing the obvious decline in our country’s moral fabric. “America is fast becoming more heathen than where we minister,” they would say. God has allowed us to be involved in a number of Awana ministries through the years, and it gradually dawned on us that here was a program that could really make a difference in America because it is rooted in the basic fundamental that we as a nation desperately need to recognize – the Gospel of grace! Through counseling experiences at Awana’s wilderness camp, Canadian Adventure, we have seen the kind of impact that Awana has in the lives of kids. We’ve also seen spiritual dynamics developed in our own children’s lives because of involvement in Awana. We know that Awana is not an end unto itself, but God has chosen to use it as a wonderful tool to bring kids to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and then train them to serve Him. We’re delighted that God has given us a specific call to this ministry!

The Christian Law Association is a "ministry of legal helps." Its purpose is to provide free legal assistance to Bible-believing churches and Christians who are experiencing legal difficulty in practicing their religious faith because of governmental regulation, intrusion, or prohibition of one form or another. Since 1969, the number of legal attacks on ministries has exploded. CLA received in excess of 100,000 phone calls in 2005, not counting the thousands of pieces of correspondence from those who are in some way facing legal difficulties for doing what the Bible commands. These cases involve Christians arrested for witnessing to others in public, public school students being told they do not have the right to read their Bibles at school, churches being excluded from communities, Christians being fired for sharing their faith at work, and thousands of other shocking assaults on our precious religious freedoms.

Each generation is responsible for passing on the Gospel message and the truths found in the Scriptures to its children. "Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). Since parents are the primary teachers of their children, especially during their early years, they should be the ones to instill within their children Godâ??s principles of finance as detailed in Godâ??s Word.

GenNET Online Programs
Welcome to GenNET Online Learning! In the 2009-10 school year, GenNET Online Learning will provide students with a wide range of teacher-led courses and self-directed classroom tools delivered over the Internet. This program provides enhanced learning opportunities for Michigan high school and middle school students. Barriers such as time, space, equality of opportunity, and lack of resources diminish with this use of telecommunications. Students, parents, educators -- we invite you to explore our website and take advantage of this exciting and dynamic learning experience. Registration is now open. Students in Michigan should contact their school principal or counselor to register. School principals or counselors should contact their local ISD/RESA/REMC for more information or contact GenNETOnlineLearningSupport@geneseeisd.org. For our area, the Gwinn area schools is making this available to our homeschool group. Here is a note (posted 9/3/09) from the superintendent of the Gwinn schools: Subject: On Line Learning for Michigan students Good Afternoon: My name is Michael R. Maino. I am the Superintendent of the Gwinn Area Community Schools. My business manager (Amy Luoma) told me that she had talked to Lonny Janofski about our efforts to make on-Line classes available to high school age students who are currently being home schooled. First, understand that this is a new program that just came available as a result of a partnership we formed with the Genesee County Intermediate School District in lower Michigan. They have what is called a "seat time waiver" from the Michigan Dept of Ed. A "seat time waiver" allows high school students to take all of their high school classes on-line without ever having to set foot in a school building. Their program is called GenNet and because we joined the GenNet consortium we also have seat time waivers for approximately 25 students. As I said, classes are offered on-line through the GenNet Consortium. All of the courses offered (anything from English to Foreign Language to Advanced Placement classes) are teacher directed (on-line) and all courses meet "content expectations" as outlined by the Michigan Dept of Ed. Students may take all of their classes at home or they may come in to the high school to use our computer labs. A mentor will be assigned to each student who enrolls. THE STUDENT HAS NO OBLIGATION TO MEET WITH THE MENTOR OR TO EVEN COMPLETE ANY OF THE ON-LINE CLASS WORK. The mentor is simply assigned so that the student will have a contact person should they have problems. You can visit the GenNet website at http://gennetonline.geneseeisd.org/ So how does this affect home schoolers? First, this program is only available to students who were NOT enrolled as a Gwinn student during the 2008 - 09 school year. We are not allowing current students to simply drop out of school and take classes on-line. Second, as you probably know there are special rules for home schoolers who wish to take core classes through the public schools. Under this program you may take any class or classes you want...as long as you enroll in six classes. In other words you must enroll as a full time on-line student in order to participate. So what is the catch. The catch is that whether the student completes all or any of the classes they enroll in is entirely up to them. We realize that many home schooled children have excellent home school programs and parents do not want to change what they are teaching....nor do we want to change what they are doing. However, home schoolers may also want to take special classes....say AP Chemistry, or AP Calculus or maybe a foreign language. Classes that are simply not available to them through their programs or that are very expensive to buy. Under this program, home schoolers can take whatever they want.....as long as they enroll in a total of six classes. So if the class they really want is AP Chemistry then they enroll in AP Chem and also in an English or Gen math or history or whatever.....as long as they enroll in a total of six classes. We pay for the tuition for these classes and the student participates in only what he/she wants to complete...which in this case may only be AP Chem. Their is no penalty for not completing classes. In most cases the home schooler does not want credit for the class so there is not even a transcript...unless they want one. Third, this is a win...win situation. 1) Home schoolers have an opportunity to take classes at home (classes they may never have a chance to take) without ever having to set foot in a school building. 2) High school credit that will go towards earning a Gwinn diploma is available for classes that are completed by the home schooler.....if that is desired. 3) The school district gets to "count" the student for State Aid which brings in additional revenue to the district. (A full-time student (six classes) brings in $7316 to the District. So even though we pay for all costs associated with the program we will make some additional dollars in the end.) 4) And finally, we have an opportunity to make "points" with the home school population, many of whom are residents of our school district. Fourth, the program is available to anyone who lives in the Marquette-Alger ISD or who lives in an ISD that borders the Marquette-Alger ISD. The only ISD that does not border our ISD is the Gogebic-Ontonogon ISD. So basically anyone in the UP (except for students in Ironwood, Bessemer, Ontonogon, etc) are eligible to enroll in on-line classes as a Gwinn student. The process for enrolling is simple. Gwinn residents simply come in and enroll. Residents from other school districts (MQT, Neg, Ishp, NICE, Houghton, Munising, etc) must fill out a "schools of choice" form which allows them to enroll as Gwinn students. (Schools of Choice forms must be submitted by 4:00 p.m, Friday, September 11. To request a form call my office at 346-9283). NOTE: Students enrolled as full time on-line students are also eligible to participate in MHSAA interscholastic sports. Athletic eligibility requirements that must be met by regular students must also be met by on-line students So that is pretty much what we are offering to high school age home schoolded children. Again, it is good for us and it may be good for some kids who will now have an opportunity to take classes they would never have had a chance to take. Please call (346-9283) if you have any questions.

GoodSeed International
We believe that we need to be crystal clear on the Bible's primary message the gospel, and then pass it on in a way that makes sense. To that end we are committed to: 1. Create tools. It is our goal to produce other TERM* materials similar to The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus, sensitive to different ages, settings, the illiterate, or such groups as the seeing impaired. It is our goal to translate culturally contextualized TERM materials into all major and many smaller language groups. Individuals wishing a translation in their language should know that, on available basis, we offer help and finances in checking, formatting and the initial printing. Our materials are geared for those having little-to-no Bible background — assuming nothing. This may be due to age (i.e. children), a remote location (i.e. tribal), or because a dominant religion hinders a clear explanation of the Scriptures. Also included are those living in post-Christian societies. 2. Teach people how to use those tools.

Kids Talk About God--Inspiring Children
About Us Kids Talk About God (KTAG) started with an idea and a vision. The idea is that children have a way of touching our hearts and reminding us that we must come to God with childlike faith. The vision is to capture their faith expressions and make them available to all through an online portfolio. See what Jesus meant when he said we must enter his kingdom with the faith of a child. Mission Our mission is to create forums for kids to share their faith. We make these inspirational expressions of faith available online without charge to children and families who visit our website or a sponsored webpage on our site. “If you want to have a lasting influence upon the world you must invest in people’s lives; and if you want to maximize your investment, then you must invest in those lives while they are young.” - George Barna, The Barna Research Group History Kids Talk About God started when journalist Carey Kinsolving launched a worldwide contest to find a child to feature in a global mission trip. The Mission Explorers Video Series (click here to view) has been distributed by Word Ministry Resources as video curriculum to more than 2,500 churches. This popular series is now streaming as part of the Kids Talk About God Online Portfolio. Impart a vision to children for Christian work on the mission field. After producing Mission Explorers, Kinsolving set his sights on writing the Kids Talk About God newspaper column, which has been in syndication for more than 5 years (visit Lifestyle Features at www.Creators.com). These winsome columns are now being distributed by complimentary e-mail subscription (click here to subscribe). The Kids Talk About God gift book, which features children’s quotes from Kinsolving’s columns, has been published by J. Countryman and Hallmark. This winsome gift book is now available as a talking book on the Kids Talk About God website. Website visitors hear children's voices when they mouse over children's quotes featured in the book. Click here to see and hear the Kids Talk About God Talking Book. Art from the gift book as well as art gathered for the Kids Color Me Bible is now featured in the Kids Talk About God Online Art Gallery. More than 70 pieces are featured in the order of the Scriptures they illustrate. Children may view them or upload them for printout to use as memory cards or to decorate their rooms. All printouts feature high-resolution PDF files in 3.5” X 5” and 4” X 6” formats. The Kid TV Interviews are the most entertaining part of the KTAG Online Portfolio. Lamplighter Publishing
Welcome to Lamplighter! Lamplighter stories are much more than good and wholesome reading. The character traits children assimilate during their formative years are the foundation from which a life of faith in God is built. Inspiring role models found in Lamplighter books demonstrate that outward compliance alone will not carry a child through the stresses and disappointments soon to be faced in adolescence and adulthood. Perseverance, courage, hope, loyalty, humility—these are the qualities to emulate, these are the traits to pursue. Though life isn’t always fair, we can be confident that each disappointment and trial is designed by a loving God for our good. Lamplighter books are edited within a Biblical theological framework to ensure that each story reflects the character of God and provides key Scriptures to be stored within the heart. The uniqueness of a Lamplighter book in contrast to other books with the same title is that they have been enhanced with helpful footnotes and woven with threads of Biblical truths that will be etched into an awakened moral conscience. These characteristics are what make our Lamplighter Collection so unique and highly valued. --Mark Hamby (Heard on Revive Our Hearts Radio)

My Wonderful World
Geography is more than places on a map. It's global connections and incredible creatures. It's people and cultures, economics and politics. And it's essential to understanding our interconnected world. But sadly, our kids aren't getting enough of it. A new National Geographic-Roper survey shows half of young Americans can't locate world powers like Japan and India. Twenty percent can't even find the Pacific Ocean. (More about the survey.) Without geography, our children aren't ready for the world. That's why we started My Wonderful World. It's a National Geographic-led campaign—backed by a coalition of major national partners—to expand geographic learning in school, at home, and in the community. We want to give our kids the power of global knowledge.

Nature Friend
Nature Friend Magazine encourages children to appreciate God’s handiwork in nature. We are a children's magazine the whole family, including the grandparents, can enjoy. Every other issue is gently nudged towards an older age. This is easiest to observe by the two-page art lesson that goes a bit more in-depth than the one-page lesson. While 8-16 may be a nucleus, we publish drawings by 3-4 year olds and quotes/writings from grandparents. Its Beginning and Purpose Nature Friend magazine, begun in 1983, was produced mainly by the Stanley and Janice Brubaker family of Goshen, Indiana, owners of Pilgrim Publishers. It was born out of Stanley’s desire to encourage children to believe in God as their Creator and to seek out, recognize, and appreciate His handiwork. The popular “You Can Draw” feature was first produced by a young lady who lived near the Brubakers in Indiana. Today she is a pastor’s wife at a small country church in Virginia where the current Nature Friend owners are members. The site also features on-line shopping.

Teen Pact
When the time comes to learn lessons in political science, Christian students all across the nation are turning to a TeenPact state capitol experience instead of just a textbook. TeenPact teaches the foundations of government with the legislative branch, beginning with a week-long session at the student's own capitol. Spiritually, TeenPact teaches Biblical principles of government and family, going hand-in-hand with the values of families who participate. It is very important that our young people see that spiritual revival is the answer to America's problems - not politics. We teach students that every Christian must pray and vote according to Biblical principles. Overall, studies in government are beneficial in any vocation. Our hands-on civics courses offer an incredible platform for rhetoric, interpersonal communication, and current events. There is a great need for godly, powerful communication within any arena and our goal is to train up a generation of young people to fill that need.

U.P. Libraries
The Upper Peninsula Region of Library Cooperation, Inc.(UPRLC) operates a SIRSI integrated library automation system for 63 school, public, and other nonprofit libraries in the Upper Peninsula. This shared system makes information technology available and affordable in a rural area to libraries that are unable to afford stand-alone automated systems. The consortium's online public access catalog effectively expands the collections of small rural libraries from a few thousand titles to over 1.5 million. A 2-day a week courier delivery system expedites delivery to the consumer's home library. UPRLC's central site, located at 1615 Presque Isle, Marquette, hosts the online public access catalog, circulation, record keeping, e-mail service, web page hosting, reporting and remote patron authentication.

Wallbuilders
WallBuilders is an organization dedicated to presenting America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on the moral, religious, and constitutional foundation on which America was built – a foundation which, in recent years, has been seriously attacked and undermined. In accord with what was so accurately stated by George Washington, we believe that "the propitious [favorable] smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation which disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained." Why the name "WallBuilders"? In the Old Testament book of Nehemiah, the nation of Israel rallied together in a grassroots movement to help rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and thus restore stability, safety, and a promising future to that great city. We have chosen this historical concept of "rebuilding the walls" to represent allegorically the call for citizen involvement in rebuilding our nation's foundations. As Psalm 11:3 reminds us, "If the foundations be destroyed, what shall the righteous do?" Our Goal WallBuilders' goal is to exert a direct and positive influence in government, education, and the family by (1) educating the nation concerning the Godly foundation of our country; (2) providing information to federal, state, and local officials as they develop public policies which reflect Biblical values; and (3) encouraging Christians to be involved in the civic arena.

WORLD Magazine
WORLD tries to be salt, not sugar. We like to report good news but we don't make it sticky-sweet. We also report bad news because Christ's grace becomes most meaningful when we're aware of sin. We want to be tough-minded but warmhearted. We are dependent on God and independent of any political faction or interest group. We don't let advertisers influence news content. We don't print glorified press releases. We like George W. Bush but often criticize his administration. We criticize corruption, even when (sometimes especially when) it erupts among Christians. We avoid sourcery, where unnamed sources spin the news their way. We look for provocative and evocative news stories that are the result of pavement-pounding rather than thumb-sucking. We don't want anyone to read WORLD out of a sense of duty. We like family feuds over who gets to read a new issue first. We want our readers to enjoy the world God has made, full as it is of nooks and crannies and weirdness. We stand for factual accuracy and biblical objectivity, trying to see the world as best we can the way the Bible depicts it. Journalistic humility for us means trying to give God's perspective. We distinguish between issues on which the Bible is clear and those on which it isn't. We also distinguish between journalism and propaganda: We're not willing to lie because someone thinks it will help God's cause. We believe that our purpose is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever—and forever begins right now. We like sex, within marriage. We're not amoral hedonists, but we're not stoic moralists either. We like the vines and fig trees God gives us. We read novels, go to movies, and listen to classical music but also jazz. We prefer ice cream to cotton candy. We cover movies, yoga, artists and travel; we aren't Christians with rules against anything that's fun because God made fun, too. We cover all aspects of the news: national, international, and cultural; politics and business; medicine, science, technology, and sports. We have feisty columns and religious reflections. We even have cartoons and a page with funny or strange stories of the week. But what matters the most is this: We believe in a God who tells the truth and wants us to do the same. If that sounds good to you, click here, follow the instructions, make your choice, and we'll get your subscription started right away. Your issues will be delivered direct to your home or office, plus you'll get FREE access to WORLDMag.com for the duration of your subscription.
